The Wayside Shrine Current

Maria Fischer with Mercedes Bonorino • Uniting the Blessed Mother’s mission from Rome in reaching the broadest circles of the Church and the world, the wayside shrines’ current continues very strongly in great part thanks to Ana Echevarría and Mercedes Bonorino’s creativity and dedication along with the entire Argentinean Belmonte circle. Every missionary sending a photo of their wayside shrine not only receives the Belmonte Bulletin to keep them informed, but they also receive a personal greeting with an incentive to join in prayer and offer capital of grace forRead More
ARGENTINA, Silvia Marín • On 8 December, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Rosary Campaign held the 14th pilgrimage to the chapels of Trenque Lauquen, a area of Buenos Aires. This year the pastor, Fr. Juan Pellergrino, accompanied them throughout the walk. The motto this year for the pilgrimage uniting chapels was “Mother gaze on us so we will live as brothers/sisters.” The motto was inspired on what then Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio had created for a diocesan pilgrimage to Luján. They departed at 3:45 AM fromRead More
COSTA RICA, Gonzalo Vega• On 18 November 2016, Covenant Day was also a historic day for the Costa Rican Schoenstatt Family.  On this day, a desire came closer to being realized after property was acquired, where Costa Rica and Central America’s first Shrine will be built.  We hopefully project this desire of almost 20 years will become a reality in four months. ARGENTINA, by Ana Giarratana and Silvia Sibay • On 26 June Fr. Guillermo Cassone sent out 18 new Schoenstatt Pilgrim Mother Campaign missionaries from the “Garden of Mary” shrine in Tucumán.  With joy and emotion, they gave their yes to the Blessed Mother and committed to take her image wherever she wants to go. Earlier, commemorating the 31st anniversary of the death of João Pozzobon they went to the memorial that bears his name and as a gesture of acknowledgement that they are Mary’s humble instruments and faithful heirs ofRead More
ITALY, Trent, by Milena Allera • Last year I got to know the Schoenstatt Pilgrim Mother through one of my colleagues, Gisela Ciola, who is a Pilgrim Mother missionary. Gisela had the same health problems that my dad was going through and she offered me the image of the Blessed Mother to take home and keep for a few days.  I accepted it with great joy and a little trepidation.  Was I worthy of such greatness? This is how Our Lady of Schoenstatt came into my life and the lifeRead More
URUGUAY, by Maria del Rosario de Armas • In 1947, when Fr. Kentenich arrived for the first time in Latin America, the Sisters of Mary had three schools in Uruguay:  one in Nueva Helvecia, Departamento Colonia, another in the city of Cardona, Soriano, and a third one in the Deaprtamento de Salto to the north of the country.  Today there is only one in Nueva Helvecia, close to the First Daughter Shrine. After staying for several days in Colonia, Fr. Kentenich traveled to Cardona, from there to Paysandú, and thenRead More
By Cristina White, Campaign lay-adviser in the Argentinean Nueve de Julio Diocese on the anniversary of Joao Pozzobon’s death • In September 2004, a friend invited me on pilgrimage to Rome for the Belmonte Shrine blessing.  The day we arrived, which was the eve of the blessing, all the international Schoenstatt pilgrims gathered in St. Peter’s Square for a large celebration to be held in the Vatican Gardens at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto. As a missionary of the Campaign, I had a Pilgrim Mother that Fr. Esteban Uriburu hadRead More
PARAGUAY, Amada Girett and María Fischer • Many people had been waiting for 18 May in Santa Rita, department of Alto Paraná. Waiting eagerly The expectation was already growing the previous week. In a brief visit toRead More
PARAGUAY, Encarnación, by Julia and Rodolfo Widmann • The Schoenstatt Family from Encarnación and the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign has had a special privilege since December 2014:  The diocesan bishop is a Schoenstatt Father, Bishop Francisco Pistilli, who knows and loves the Campaign and he counts on its support in his diocese.  At the beginning of 2015, a meeting was held at the bishopric with Bishop Pistille, the outgoing coordinator Chiquita Martín and the new coordinators, Julia and Rodolfo Widmann.   Going forth and sharing her graces In August, twenty-seven PilgrimRead More
PARAGUAY, Santa Rita, by Amada Girett/org • Santa Rita (department of Alto Paraná) located approximately 350 km east of Asunción has a natural wonder that has gained a lot of attention in recent times.  It is a tunnel of lead trees (mimosas) that extends 1,550 m. (almost a mile) in length along a stretch of Route 6.  At this time, it is one of the area’s main natural tourist attractions.  It all began about twenty-five years ago, when a few lead trees were planted on both sides of a stretchRead More
