Walk with Mary: “Armed with rosaries, candles and images of the Virgin Mary, an estimated 300,000 devotees joined the Walk with Mary procession”… no, not at the Original Shrine in Schoenstatt, Germany, but in Cebu City, in January 2020, before the pandemic made mass pilgrimages impossible. Walk with Mary: this is the name of typical Filipino processions, with statues and images of the Virgin Mary carried from one shrine to another. Also, Washington, USA, knows the annual “Walk with Mary” procession in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of America. —
The same title “Walk with Mary 2020“, complemented by: “Let us walk like you through life…” (Joseph Kentenich), was given to the Filipino Pilgrimage to the Original Shrine in Schoenstatt on September 19, sponsored by the “English Office” of the Schoenstatt Sisters’ Pilgrimage Central.
The day included Holy Mass, adoration, confession, rosary, a spiritual input and moments of prayer.
Accompanied by a large statue of the Virgin Mary and many flowers, the Filipino pilgrims from all over Germany, prayed the rosary in the Original Shrine in the morning. In the afternoon of September 19, they gathered again at the Original Shrine to be sent off again – just minutes before the Spanish Holy Mass began.
