Diocesan priests of Concepción at the Montahue Shrine

CHILE, editors •

Once again, the Schoenstatt Shrine of Montahue opened its doors for the diocesan clergy. On the morning of Wednesday, March 27, the presbyterate of the Archdiocese of Concepción gathered at the Schoenstatt Shrine of Montahue to celebrate the Day of the Ministerial Priesthood.

After the prayer of Lauds, Monsignor Bernardo Alvarez introduced the two priests from Nigeria, who this week joined the clergy of Concepción: Father Francis Umar and Father John Emeka.

Afterwards, they participated in a moment of reflection by Father Fernando Lacaux, from the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, who addressed the theme of priesthood.

Fr. Fernando commented that he alluded to ” issues that are dealt with in fundamental documents such as those of Vatican II and considerations that the Aparecida document gives us. And then we analyzed our priestly ministry in a triple perspective: to look at the past with gratitude, to embrace the future with hope and to live the present with passion.

“Around these three points we developed some ideas that are good for thinking, reflecting and revitalizing our priestly ministry,” he said.

Afterwards, the priests went to the Shrine, where they had the opportunity to pray, worship the Blessed Sacrament and go to confession.

The meeting ended with a lunch to celebrate the Day of the Priesthood, which culminated on Wednesday afternoon with the renewal of their priestly promises in the Chrism Mass at 7:00 p.m. in the Cathedral of Concepción.
