FRANCIS IN MEXICO, by Marcelo José Garza Gómez (2) •
On Tuesday, 16 February, I had the opportunity, along with another fifty youths, to participate in the encounter Pope Francis had with the youths of Mexico. The experience was indescribable, tickets were obtained exactly one week before the encounter, and along with twenty other crazy Schoenstatt Youths from Monterrey, we traveled all of Monday night to arrive at the event.
Upon entering the stadium everything changed
We arrived in the morning, and it was a long wait, the sun was very strong and the lines were very long. However, upon entering the stadium everything changed: the impressive positive atmosphere the Pope generates, wherever he is, was felt.
At the moment, the Pope arrived at the stadium, the cheers did not cease: “This is the Pope’s youth,” Francis, brother, you are now a Mexican,” among others, which motivated the entire audience.
He invited us to dream and to transform our wealth into hope for Mexico
Just as the Pope passed to greet, I was able to see him very up close, it was an indescribable moment, that lasted only a few seconds, but that seemed like hours to me.
The message that he transmitted to us was very interesting; his way of expressing himself feels as if he were speaking to us face to face. He invited us to dream and to transform the wealth of our youth into hope for Mexico. Undoubtedly, it was a very important event in the life of everyone, who had the opportunity to be there.
