A pioneer in the Londrina health field

Ir. RosamarisSister Rosamaris, who was 83 years old in December, was from Ribeirao Claro (PR). She considered herself a Londrinese, since she had lived in Londrina since the age of thirteen when she joined the  candidature  program Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary. Her relationship with the health field in the city began when she arrived for the first time in Londrina at the beginning of the 1940’s, taking food from the Mother of God School to the sick and the Sisters at the little “Wooden Hospital”, the first hospital the Schoenstatt Sisters built in the city.

In 1944 when the Hospital “Santa Casa” was inaugurated, Sister Rosamaris was there as an adolescent, helping with the move of the little hospital to its new structure. She was a student of the first course in the then Nursing School of Santa Casa  Hospital (presently the Mater Ter Admirabilis Professional Educational Center); then Sister Rosamaris was a nurse’s aide.

She rarely left Londrina except for studies; she worked in nursing at Casa Santa  Hospital since 1953 serving in different areas. During this time, she dedicated more than forty years in the  in the emergency ward until a few years ago. In the emergency ward, she was always attentive to the details related with the organization of the care and of the well being of the patients such as: oral hydration, nourishment, and clothing. Without leaving aside her service in nursing, she was also in charge of spiritual needs serving patients, their relatives, doctors, and hospital personnel. She was vibrant during Christmas, and every year during that season, all the emergency ward personnel was involved with decorating the place, besides helping with the decorations throughout the hospital for the Christmas celebrations.

She was enthused about the growth of the Santa Casa Hospital Complex, and she participated in the internal decisions like choosing the name for the Mater Dei Hospital, that  joined the group in 1996, making the name  a hommage to the Mother of God.

Sister Rosamaris Fabeni had been a patient at Casa Santa Hospital since the beginning  of January for a cardiac condition. She died  Februarz 3 at 10:00 a.m. after a cardiac arrest.
