PARAGUAY, Sebastián and Concepción Martín. On June 20th, through the visit of the Father Symbol to the diocese, it could be said that we profoundly experienced the encounter of Father Kentenich with Blessed Roque González and his martyr companions who evangelized this part of the continent with the Cross of Christ, establishing the Jesuit Settlements, the model of organization and evangelization that our Father and Founder took from the Jesuits. “God’s presence among those people was present through the concrete authority of the priest. In them God makes himself present in each person, the intent is to form a people of God, a nation of God. In this nation, the intent was that God would send a religious law centered in the church through the validity of God’s laws.” (Fr. Antonio Cosp, JD 1978)
Historic journey
For those present, it was a moment of profound reflection and emotion: it was if Roque González of the Holy Cross and Father Joseph Kentenich celebrated a Eucharist on the same altar, where the Eye of God the Father, a symbol that our Founder treasured so much was delicately placed!
It was truly touching and impressive to be in the same place, within the majestic framework that was the center of the evangelization of the Guarani Indians, and from whose organization our Founder took ideas to establish the Marian Congregation that is presently a model of Catholic organization at an international level. Among other qualities of this colonial current, he assimilated the way of exerting authority according to the subsidiary principle; trying to constitute a Nation of God in the manner of a family; where everyone is responsible: with one objective: to be a Nation of God; where the goods are placed in common and they are maintained and increased. All of this forms a part a composite of memories that came to mind supported by the talk that Father Antonio Cosp presented at the Leaders’ Conference in 1978.
And we, as faithful disciples of Joseph Kentenich, the great Teacher and Educator, magnetized and motivated to get to know more and more God the Father and our Mother, the Virgin Mary, renewed the Covenant of Love with the Blessed Mother.
Mass: June 20th
On June 20, 2012, Father Daniel Ferreira, celebrated a Holy Mass in the presence of the Father Symbol. During the Mass, the Leader of the Family Work, Sebastian Martin, explained the meaning of the Father Eye to those, who were present; he pointed out the different symbolisms that man uses to express an idea or concept.
Among them was the symbolism of the triangle representing the eye of God the Father. The celebrant stressed the idea, and that during the week, it had helped him personally to reflect on the daily readings. Jesus’ teaching that he came to abolish the law of an eye for an eye, the law of loving ones enemies, and that previously he did not have a concept about the Symbol that arrived to Encarnación.
Then the faithful gathered in the Eucharistic Assembly, approached the Symbol; they touched it, and they were touched demonstrating an extraordinary devotion.
