A simple and powerful sign of international solidarity on the road towards 2014

ENGLAND, Fr. David Musgrave/org. In the Schoenstatt Shrine in Bolton near Manchester, visitors and pilgrims are reminded in a simple and powerful way of the pilgrimage towards the jubilee of the Covenant of Love, a pilgrimage that wants to unite internationally all those who have made the Covenant of Love their source of faith, their way of life, and their desire to reach out to others.

Each week, the flag of the country for which the Holy Mass “towards 2014” in the Original Shrine is being celebrated, is placed in the Shrine. The photos show the flag of  Sri Lanka for this past week, another of the “change-over” of the flags at Holy Mass at noon on May 19, the third Sweden by itself and then one of last weekend only: Sweden together with Burundi as the  Schoenstatt Family celebrated  a half century in that country.

In Covenant with Finland

The effort made to get all the flags – and to be honest, the Blessed Mother made her way to some countries that you wouldn’t find in an ordinary flag shop – was worthwhile. This strong connection does not require words … and anyone who is wondering why next Saturday the flag of Finland will be in the Shrine will be glad to learn that yes, Schoenstatt is in Finland, and this week we unite in Covenant with Finland.
