PHILIPPINES, Sr. Charito-Maria Olvido/mkf. As part of the spiritual preparation for the centenary of the Covenant of Love in 2014, the Philippine Schoenstatt Movement launched the Year of the Father Current with an unveiling of the picture of Fr. Joseph Kentenich on the outside wall of the Shrine. Since then this picture is a reminder to each pilgrim of the one in whose heart Schoenstatt and the Covenant of Love were born.
Slowly, the awareness of the 2014 Jubilee celebration and its preparation is growing in the Philippine Schoenstatt Family. There was a consensus among Schoenstatt family members participating in a Meeting of the Schoenstatt Pilgrim Mother Campaign last November to seize the momentum by holding a national convention next year. This will certainly enable the Schoenstatt family to become more aware of the great jubilee of the founding of the Schoenstatt Movement on October 18, 2014.
In Cebu, the Schoenstatt movement has so far gathered roughly thirty people who have decided to join the pilgrimage to the Original Shrine in 2014. During the Holy Mass “towards 2014” on Saturday, February 5, in the Original Shrine, 300 prayer cards with the 2014 Pilgrimage Prayer were blessed – to be sent to Cebu on Monday!
