For the year of the Father Current: anthology of texts “United with the Father”

Cover des Buches mit Texten zum Jahr der Vaterströmungmkf. With great joy and great expectations, the International Schoenstatt Family has begun – on this October 18, 2010 – a triennium of preparation for the centennial of the foundation in 2014. Msgr. Dr. Peter Wolf, along with the Rhine Section of the Joseph Kentenich Institute, has compiled an anthology of texts for the first year of the triennium toward 2014 which will be the world-wide year of the Father Current: “United with the Father.”

The inner dynamics of the triennium is shaped by currents of life, specified by Conference 2014 for the International Schoenstatt Family. They are currents which make up the life of our Family today. With them has been discovered – with great joy and surprise – a parallel with the previous years and with October 18, 1914.

Schoenstatt began with a “Father Current;” the founding generation congregated around Father Kentenich since he had conquered their confidence: they believed in him and they were caught up with his enthusiasm for committing to his favorite idea. The Shrine Current penetrated them deeply and led them to missionary enthusiasm for winning over many as allies and for opening the Shrine to many wider circles as a workshop for the culture of the covenant. This too is the way toward 2014.

How the Father Current developed

“The texts were chosen and classified so they can be followed and so that others may understand the inner steps which demonstrate how attachment to the Founder in the history of Schoenstatt developed. The anthology and the introductory reflections included help to reflect and deepen the development of the relationship with the Father and Founder,” said Msgr. Peter Wolf.

The anthology on the Father Current from the publisher will be available on November 16th, Father Kentenich’s birthday. It fulfills a desire of Conference 2014: deepen the cultivation of life currents in the scope of the Schoenstatt Work in preparation for 2014.

“The Father Current has not ended with the death of Father Kentenich:” states a key phrase from the prologue. And from the encounter, the remembrance and the attachment – and beyond these – the texts highlight the task of making the Father, Founder and Prophet alive and effective in his charisma, in and through his foundation, at the threshold of the second century of Schoenstatt’s history.
