EL SALVADOR, Florencia Couto •

July a month full of life and fruitfulness in El Salvador! The first retreat of the Ladies Branch of Schoenstatt El Salvador took place with great success in an event full of inspiration and bonds of faith and friendship, last Saturday, July 15. —

The encounter, called “Mary, model of woman, wife and mother”, was presided by Father José Luis Correa and convoked about 40 women who sought to imitate the Virgin Mary and strengthen their faith, to become those little Marys that the world of today needs.

Mary, our educator

The group had the opportunity to connect with the deepest part of their spirituality during a moving mass that kicked off the retreat. Throughout the day, there were talks and dynamics to promote personal development and reflection on the figure of Mary as educator. There was also space to strengthen bonds of friendship and community.

“Why the importance of Mary as educator? Because she responds to the challenges of our times”, explained Patricia Fernández, from Costa Rica and advisor of the Ladies’ Branch, who also enriched the conference with her talk “Mary as educator”, where she explained that “in Schoenstatt we consecrate ourselves to Mary, we seal our covenant of love with Mary, we take her in our hearts and she begins to carry out the task of mother and educator”.

Towards a full and fruitful life

The retreat ended with an open invitation to all the women who are not yet part of the branch to join and participate in the movement, “as a way to discover who I am,” in the words of Father José Luis.

In addition, they will have the opportunity to learn about the “Schoenstatt pedagogy”, added the Chilean priest, advisor of the movement in El Salvador. This pedagogy is based on essential values such as trust, freedom and love, and aims to guide people towards a full and fruitful life.

A fruitful retreat that has already borne fruit with the formation of the 6th group of ladies and a new group is expected in a very short time.
