A book for the pilgrimage to Schoenstatt

CHILE, red. While in many countries hundreds of people are getting ready to go on pilgrimage to Schoenstatt and Rome for the Jubilee, two books are being offered to prepare pilgrims for their encounter with these holy places: the two poles of the Jubilee celebration: “In the footsteps of Father Kentenich in Rome,” by Monsignor Peter Wolf, has been published as an EBook in Spanish, English, Portuguese and Italian, and very soon it will also be printed as a book. “In Covenant, a road of life” is offered by a group of Chileans for the pilgrimage to Schoenstatt.

“It is a book that even though it was prepared in the first place to help the pilgrims of October 2014 to have a profound experience with the history, the present and the future of the Family, detailed in each place that they will go on pilgrimage in Germany and Rome, the book aspires to remain in Schoenstatt homes giving the opportunity to go on pilgrimage to return to renew oneself in the spirit of the first sodalists every time that they take the opportunity to use one of its meditations,” explained Bernardita González, one of the authors. Members from the different Institutes, Federations and Leagues from Chile participated in editing the book; the Apostolic Women`s Federation coordinated it.

The book is structured on the basis of the pilgrimage offered to Chileans; the historic summaries and meditations were carried out in the order of the activities of each day for each place, but by using the index, all of its content can be used, regardless of the order of the visits.

Information, meditations, prayers

It begins with the Jubilee Prayer, a Letter of Introduction by the Director of the Schoenstatt Movement in Chile, Father Eduardo Aguirre, and an historic as well a spiritual explanation – of what a pilgrimage and jubilee is. Then there is a Novena of preparation for the pilgrimage. After the novena, the reader will find the Gospel of the day, morning and night prayers, in addition to meditations according to the itinerary of each journey of celebration (for example, it includes the Pre-founding Document and the Founding Document) in the same way it will contain the historic summaries as well as the meditations for many of the places that can be visited (Original Shrine, Adoration Church dedicated to the Most Holy Trinity, Covenant House, Father Kentenich House, Gymnich, Dachau, etc.). Moreover, the Rosary of God’s Instruments, the Way of the Cross of God’s Instruments and the Prayer of the Cross from Heavenwards; the prayer of the Angelus, a guide for Lectio Divina and the Jubilee Hymn.

“Whoever goes on pilgrimage with this book can be connected to the meaning of this Jubilee celebration as many times as they wish, and if all the pilgrims, those who make it from their own countries as well those who can go to Germany and Rome use it, they will be able to experience those days in the same spirit, as a single unit,” the authors stressed.
