“Dona Sílvia” – “responsible” for Portugal’s First Schoenstatt Father

ROMA/PORTUGAL, Ir. M. Paula Leite. Pope Francis approved the publication of the decree that recognizes the “heroic virtues” of Portugal’s Sílvia Cardoso Ferreira da Silva (1882-1950), known for her social works of mercy.

Dona Sílvia is the aunt of Fr. Miguel Lencastre and she asked a 12-year old António, today, Fr. António Lobo, whether he would like to become a priest and gave him financial support because his family was very poor.  These two priests are the first two Portuguese Schoenstatt Fathers.
