See you next time… farewell of the Musolino couple

mev. Rosita and Lito Musolino came to be authentic icons in the Original Shine. After sixteen months of service to the MTA, – at the Covenant House to be exact – the time to return to their home and family in Mendoza, Argentina, took place. In a short interview with Schoenstatt.org, they expressed their most sincere gratitude for having had this experience.

How did you come here?
In 2002, we received an invitation from the Superiors of our Institute to do a “Nazarene Experience” for three months in the house of our Community and this way we discovered our mission here in Schoenstatt, and in another time, at Belmonte, Rome. From that first experience, many more doors opened over the years and we came back once more to Nazareth Haus and two more occasions at Belmonte, the latter of which, we were the official custodians of the Shrine.

What did your mission imply during this time in Schoenstatt?
We were requested to be custodians of the Covenant House. We learned a lot about the history of the place, and we were able to open its doors to several pilgrims to whom we tried to transmit the experience of Father Kentenich, especially that which he lived in the place. The mission did not end there. We wanted to form a family in the Covenant House and always be on the look out to receive everyone who came, not only spiritually, but also in a material way: invite them for tea or for lunch, sit and converse with them… The house was filled with life, and we hope that this would continue to grow and be fruitful; we hope that many who reach the House will experience the presence of the Founder.

What experience impressed you most in these months?
Being here alone is already an impressive experience, to be in the same places where Father had been, but the warmth of the people that you get to meet here is also another factor. One of the most important experiences we had was to be here since the first of April onward, and to have been present step by step in everything that happened around the Original Shrine. In relation to this, we were most touched when we were invited twice to be sacristy substitutes for the Shrine. This was a dream come true.

And looking towards 2014?

We have lived the years prior to 2014 intensely, and it is our dream to be able to celebrate the 100 years of the Covenant of Love here, but we think this would not be complete unless before that, everyone, as a Family, would be fully conscious of the true meaning of the Original Shrine, and the mission of Schoenstatt for the Church and the World. We greatly desire that everyone who arrives here to celebrate would feel sheltered and would feel strongly as being sent out to spread the charism of Father to everyone.

The couple’s task was a silent one in the Shrine, from taking care that the lights were functioning up to establishing the Blessed Sacrament in the House Chapel once again. Not one who met them in Schoenstatt could deny the special warmth they received from this couple which now says their goodbye, although as they declared, they are “always ready to be back if the MTA asks them.”
