Sr. M. Priscila Paiva Scalada: Her greatest wish was to burn like holy fire

Ir. M. PriscilaBRAZIL, Sr. M. Nilza P. da Silva. Our Eternal Father surprised us by calling Sr. M. Priscila Paiva Scalada to himself. Sr. M. Priscila was born on 26 February 1985 in Barboza, Ferraz, Paraná and has another sister. Most noticeable in the last few days of her life was her joy in preparing herself, with her course sisters, for her eternal consecration. God granted her wish and from 23 January 2011, Sr. Priscila will live in eternal love.

Sr. Priscila went to live with the Sisters of Mary as a candidate at the age of 14. She was clothed as a Sister of Mary on 6 September 2003 and made her Covenant of Love on 18 December of the same year. She consecrated her young life completely to the Schoenstatt Work, applying herself with so much love and enthusiasm to all the tasks to which she was entrusted.

In particular, Sr. Priscila used her artistic talents joyfully to serve the community. She performed in Curitiba, Londrina and Atibaia. She stood out for her joy and willingness to serve. Her greatest wish was to burn like a holy fire so that a new springtime of vocations could blossom within the Church.

May her youthful life become a pledge for many vocations

God granted her wish and from 23 January 2011, Sr. Priscila will live in eternal love. Her life shines brightly as a sacred lamp for the glory of the Father and she shares in the promises of Christ: “I will rise on the last day.”

The funeral Mass took place on 24 January at 5pm and she was then taken to the Sisters’ cemetry at the Provincial Center in Atibaia, Sao Paulo. We pray for her eternal happiness and comfort for her family. May her youthful life become a pledge for many vocations.

Thank you to Sarah Leah for the sensitive translation. Perhaps, Sarah Leah, you could ask others to write and send pics to the site on Schoenstatt in South Africa, for there is never anything from Constantia where the Sisters have their Provincial House; from Maryland; from Cathcart; from Cape Town shared except so very rarely. Is Schoenstatt SA alive and well at all?

Thank you to the Sisters Family in Brazil for having shared this information of the passing of Sr M Priscila with all the members of Schoenstatt. This has resulted in good empathy from all the branches towards the Sisters Family and certainly so many Schoenstatt prayer faces are being presented to God Most High for Sr M Priscila’s rest in peace after her so young death.

One never seems to read any information about the Sisters Family on this Schoenstatt site (the bare bones of their General Chapter and the announcement of the new Superior General the first for ages and nothing since till poor Sr Priscila)and their own site carries no regular information – its a static site.

Could the greater Schoenstatt perhaps ask the Sisters to be a bit more forthcoming with information on their Sisters in their locations throughout the world? Highlighting certain Sisters working interestingly or running the house or assisting girls and womens training days; community exercises like prayer, togetherness, work, etc. as other branches are forthcoming on this site with sharing their information?

The more the Schoenstatt family at large could read about the Sisters Family the more prayer for vocations to their Sisters Institute would happen and so Sr M Priscila’s wish for a new springtime of vocations could be assisted by the greater Schoenstatt? Was this vocations thrust Sr M Priscila’s motto? Could the Family preparing for 2014 embrace this in some way?
