Toward 2014: in covenant with Senegal

Agathe Hug/org. The Holy Mass “toward 2014” celebrated at the Original Shrine allows the participants – and also those who are present through schoenstatt-tv, through schoenstatt.org, simply through a poster placed in the Shrine, or by downloading the reports and the petitions – to go on pilgrimage every Saturday to one country or another, where the Covenant of Love is present. At these Masses, all the countries, where there is someone who has sealed the Covenant of Love, are mentioned. It is the same whether it is a country where Schoenstatt has existed for decades and has thousands of members, or others, where there is only one Pilgrim MTA or two or three people in whom the fire of the Covenant of Love burns. Some are surprised to see the names of the countries, but it also makes them feel responsible for Mary’s love toward them, that is what Father José María García wrote in the 2014 bulletin of December 2011. And this is what happened to those who participated in the Holy Mass in covenant with Senegal, on Saturday morning.

It almost seemed that the Mass was celebrated for the youth, where a couple of former advisers of the youth were “lost”.

The Holy Mass in covenant with Senegal was prepared by sone Brazilian and Mexican girls who are presently participating in “time in Schoenstatt’. Moreover, the students of the Iberian-American tertiary of the Schoenstatt Fathers accompanied Father Raúl Espino, the celebrant.

The Covenant of Love reached the country of Senegal, even when the Schoenstatt tradition was relatively new and presently contact has been interrupted. But it could be, as it has happened in recent months, that contact is re-established through the Mass in covenant with a country.

Attached with the international Schoenstatt Family

During this Mass we prayed for attachment with the International Schoenstatt Family.

  • For the youth, who took the Pilgrim MTA to Senegal ten years ago, and for all that She does there today.
  • For the inhabitants of Senegal, who are presently experiencing great political tension before the coming presidential elections.
  • For the pilgrimage of the International Schoenstatt Family toward the Covenant of Love Jubilee, for everyone, who in Schoenstatt, Rome and all the countries – have made this preparation a desire of their hearts, and for everyone who offers their contributions to the capital of grace in solidarity for it.
  • For the Schoenstatt Family in Argentina, where the Father Symbol is on pilgrimage.
  • For everyone who sent their petitions to the Original Shrine: this week from South Africa, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, United States, Switzerland, India, and Ecuador.

Thanks to the temperate weather, there was a brief encounter after Mass, as is it befits a family.

And the pilgrimage from country to country will continue, with many “surprising” countries:

March 3rd – Serbia
March 24th – Sierra Leone
March 30th – Singapore

Since April 7th is Holy Saturday, of course Holy Mass will not be celebrated in the Original Shrine. After Easter it will continue with:

April 14th – Slovakia
April 21st – Slovenia
April 28th – South Africa
