Agathe Hug. Of course, you can belong to Schoenstatt and ‘only’ speak your mother tongue. Undoubtedly however, it is also good for Schoenstatters to speak various languages. Last week it was Polish, and this week, in covenant with Portugal, it was Portuguese, Spanish, English, and German. This is one sign of the obvious growth of the internationality of the Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement on its pilgrimage towards 2014, as God’s pilgrim people who praise and worship God in every language.
The liturgy of this Holy Mass was left to a group of students from the Schoenstatt Fathers who are currently doing their tertianship and staying in Father House in Mount Zion. A Portuguese seminarian gave the introduction in Portuguese; the hymns were in Spanish; the prayers of the faithful in English; and the readings and order of the Mass were in German.
All these intentions reached the Original Shrine
The second ‘Towards 2014’ Mass for this year was not spectacular or out of the ordinary. However, this is not what is important. The whole world is represented by all those who, during the week, meet in the Original Shrine. And at the renewal of the Covenant of Love at the end of Holy Mass, it once again becomes clear that the wealth of languages is not an obstacle at all because the moment of unity is the Covenant of Love.
