Towards 2014: In Covenant with Paraguay

Father José María García/org. A small flock of about ten people including Father José María García met in the Original Shrine on the morning of December 17th to celebrate Mass toward 2014 in covenant with Paraguay, one of the largest countries with the Covenant of Love. The country’s Schoenstatt Movement is vibrant and is continually growing with the mass October 18th celebrations hosting around 40,000 pilgrims annually in addition to the numerous apostolic projects for children and families in poverty, for education and formation, society, and the indigenous population.

Father José María García took the gospel of the day, regarding the genealogy of Our Lord, as a personal anchor in the history of Israel, a history marked by holiness and human frailty … and that had its central point, more than the successes, in the confidence in the God of the Covenant and his faithfulness.

Paraguay is a testimony to this same confidence in God and the presence of the Blessed Mother in the Shrines. The Movement’s numbers demonstrate the prescence of the Covenant in the heart of the Paraguayan people.

At the end of the Eucharist, Father José María prayed the prayer sent by Father Antonio Cosp for this occasion, and then those present renewed their Covenant.

Although there were only ten people present, many more Schoenstatters were represented spiritually through the names and petitions written on the bits of paper deposited in the capital of grace from places like Guatemala, Italy, Nigeria, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Spain, Chile, Austria, the Philippines, and Ecuador … contributing their faith and confidence in actions of the Blessed Mother from her Original Shrine.
