Toward 2014 – in covenant with Luxemburg

Santa Misa "en alianza con Luxemburgo", 23 de julioFather José María García/mcb. “In covenant with Luxemburg,” Whenever the word, Luxemburg, that small country situated between Germany, France and Belgium, was heard, those who know thought about Andy and Frank Schleck and the “Tour de France”. Although the Mass celebrated on July 23rd – the Feast of Saint Brigette of Sweden – in the Original Shrine, had nothing to do with this sporting event, instead it was the “Covenant Tour” in preparation for the jubilee of the Covenant of Love, where Saturday after Saturday, the Schoenstatt Family attaches itself with a country where Schoenstatt is present. This Saturday it was Luxemburg’s turn.

Near the border with Germany in Luxembourg, there have been Schoenstatters for quite some time.

In 2006, a Brazilian family moved to the city of Luxembourg for professional reasons and began with the Rosary Campaign.

At the beginning of the Holy Mass, Sister Marie Munz related that during the Campaign 2000 Conference in Santa Maria, Brazil, fifty new Pilgrim MTA’s were commissioned for countries, where the campaign was still not present. She took on the Pilgrim MTA for Luxemburg in the name of Germany; it was presented when a Brazilian family, who had known about the Campaign for some time, “appeared”.

Petitions “in covenant”

Rezando la oración de peregrinación 2014They prayed the 2014Pilgrimage Prayer. They prayed for the victims of the attack in Olso, as well as for the group of Argentinean pilgrims from the Northern Zone (NEA) from the provinces of Corrientes, Chaco and Misiones – who were present in a large number. They also prayed for the petitions of the worldwide Schoenstatt Family:

  • For the preparation of the International Schoenstatt Family for the renewal of the Covenant of Love in 2014, for the joint pilgrimage, and for everyone who has committed to the concrete projects to forge a covenant culture.
  • For the preparations of World Youth Day in Madrid.
  • For the family missions which will be carried out this week in five places in the interior of Paraguay. 450 Schoenstatt people, couples and youth will participate in them.
  • For the future missionaries of the Pilgrim MTA, who are in Tucumán, Argentina, preparing for this apostolate.
  • For the many camps and vacations of the Schoenstatt youth, which are taking place this week.
  • For everyone who sent their petitions for prayer this week through www.schoenstatt.org to the Original Shrine from Honduras, Colombia, Germany, the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Spain, and Mexico.
  • For the Ponto Grosso Abbey in Brazil that was assaulted this week and the monks.
  • And for the International Sisters Conference of Sisters who assist the Movement taking place these weeks in Schoenstatt.

They prepared the Mass, dedicated to Saint Brigitte, patroness of Europe, they prayed for her intercession at this time when a wave of terror had been experienced…

Next time

The next Mass “toward 2014” will be celebrated on July 30th, in covenant with Macao, a small, special administrative region on the southern coast of China, 70 Km southeast of Hong Kong. There is a Comboni missionary from Brazil, who has been on mission there with the Pilgrim MTA for several years.
