On October 18, 2010, the Schoenstatt Family of San Antonio celebrated the second anniversary of the Cor Unum in Patre Shrine at Mount Schoenstatt and the opening of the Triennium to 2014. The outdoor Mass was held on the large patio of the shrine and surrounding grounds. It was concelebrated by Fr. Jesus Ferras and Fr. Marcelo Aravena. Fr. Marcelo, who was welcomed with applause, is newly arrived to the Schoenstatt Fathers community in Austin, Texas. Deacon Tony Ludolph assisted in the Mass and four boys from the youth group were altar servers.

Fr. Jesus enthusiastically presented the details of our triennium journey that will take us to the covenant of love year 2014, explaining that the first year will be dedicated to our father and founder, Father Joseph Kentenich, the second year focuses on the Shrine and the third year on the missionary trend. The international jubilee motto, Your Covenant Our Mission, was announced as well as the motto of the Texas Family for the first year of the triennium-With Father, Proclaim the Covenant of Love. Flags of countries from around the world where there are Schoenstatt Shrines decorated the railing of the patio of the shrine to show our solidarity with our worldwide Schoenstatt Family.

A visual connection with the Original Shrine

Fr. Jesus Ferras sharing 2014 detailsThe United States flag and the flag of Germany were first in the presentation of the gifts. The two flags expressed our unity with the place of origin-the Original Shrine. A piece of slate from the roof of the Original Shrine was also offered. It will go on pilgrimage, together with a picture of the Original Shrine, to the Schoenstatt Family of eight dioceses in Texas from October 2010 to October 2014 as a visual connection with the Original Shrine.

After the Mass we renewed the covenant of love as one family of our Father and Founder. We honored our Mother Thrice Admirable on the second anniversary of her Cor Unum in Patre Shrine with a serenade of Las Mañanitas. The very beautiful and joyful celebration ended with a reception in the Center.
