There are only a few days left until World Youth Day in Lisbon; many of the young people who are on their way there are already at the diocesan days, on pilgrimage to Fatima, or visiting shrines and historic places in Europe. For a good 450 of the young pilgrims from the Schoenstatt Movement, a side trip will lead them to Schoenstatt during these days, and some would also like to get to know the Dachau concentration camp memorial. —

On Sunday and Monday of last week, large World Youth Day groups were at the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial.

On Sunday, the youth from Paraguay were in Dachau; they celebrated Mass in the Carmel Chapel. On Monday, a large group from Brazil came.

We were three groups each time for the tour; today, for the first time, a Brazilian who is employed by the memorial was a guide for a Schoenstatt group and was looking forward to the young people from his homeland! In my group, a couple from Brazil joined us; in between, there was always further contact in Portuguese.

And always present in both groups: the Pilgrim MTA!

“Let us walk through life entirely like you…”, Fr. Joseph Kentenich prayed to Mary as a prisoner in Dachau. Walk in us through this concentration camp, through this time of human cruelty, this time of dishonor, lawlessness, defenselessness. When the Pilgrim MTA walks through Dachau in these days in the arms of young people, it is a request and a demand, a gift and a task: Let us walk through life entirely like you …
