Continuing speaker’s training in service of families

AUSTRIA, Martin Schiffl •

In order to maintain a high quality for the Austrian Family Weeks (family plus holidays), the speakers meet annually for a multi-day workshop in Schoenstatt at Kahlenberg on the outskirts of Vienna. —

This year’s workshop subjects were:

  • How to discern our own longings and challenges
  • How to stay in the Schoenstatt life-stream
  • The spiritual atmosphere during the family weeks
  • Training in Fr. Kentenich’s rhetoric
  • What moves the participants during Family Weeks?

Schoenstatt Family Plus Holidays have been the Austrian Schoenstatt Movement’s “core business” for decades. Here partnership and educational know-how is taught in realistic ways as part of the holiday. The focus on Fr. Josef Kentenich’s pedagogy is crucial for the speakers. Above all, this involves observing: what motivates the families, what troubles and longings do they have? And which Schoenstatt answers are helpful for each individual family for their concrete life situations?

Every year, the learning and working atmosphere of this workshop is impressive. Also this year, the cooperation of young and seasoned speakers provided a particularly fruitful working environment.

“This workshop makes it so much easier for us to prepare the presentations,” said a couple at the end of the workshop.

And everyone agreed: “The Holy Spirit was palpable!”
