October 2014 – Homecoming days for world’s Schönstatt pilgrims in German families

Our thoughts and ideas are turning more and more toward the year, 2014. Thus over the past several months, an idea arose in the German Family Movement. World Youth Day in Germany was the inspiration for the idea. The question came up: What would be the possibility of having a type of homecoming in the following way? There will be the official celebrations periods in Schönstatt. But during the time prior to these official celebrations on October 11–15, families from all over the world could meet with their ‘covenant siblings’ at home, in Schönstatt’s homeland.

What would that look like? It would be a chance

  • to get to know one another
  • to undertake something together
  • to feel at home with the German “siblings”
  • to prepare with other Schönstatters at the nearest Schönstatt center for the events which will take place in the original Schönstatt.

Our considerations continued: the “hosts”

  • would take care of lodging and board in their home
  • would also participate in the meetings at the Schönstatt centers
  • would – as far as possible – travel together with all of them to the Schönstatt festivities, as an international Schönstatt family.

Organizational issues

The question arose: What about not knowing their language? Our answer is this: Everybody understands the language of the heart!

The organizing could look like this:

In each German diocese/region, there will be one person in charge:

  • who will serve as contact person and as local coordinator
  • who will organize the meetings at the center
  • who will arrange for the trip to Schönstatt (in case of group traveling).

Individual persons as well as groups can register to be hosted in German families. Naturally, each group would need a contact person – for the group itself and for us Germans who are in charge in Germany.

All the information regarding Registration and Contact Information is available via website, www.familienbewegung.de/2014.

Obviously worldwide Schönstatt pilgrims already have heavy expenses for travel and staying in Schönstatt. Therefore the German participants will make the effort to cover those additional expenses that would result from the period of October, 11th – 15th (picking them up from the airport, taking care of the trip to Schönstatt…).

We cordially invite all Schönstatters and especially Schönstatt families allover the entire world to participate in this international family meeting, consider it a way of preparing for the great Schönstatt celebration.

After the celebrations

After the common 2014 Jubilee Celebrations in Schönstatt, there will be the opportunity of an international meeting of the Family Movement on Mount Nazareth on October 19, 2014, in the afternoon. All are cordially invited to participate in this event around the Shrine of the Families! Detailed information will come soon – it can also be found on our new website, www.heiligtumderfamilien.net
