At the service of the teacher – for a quality education

PARAGUAY, Fundación en Alianza. In-service for teachers has been offered beginning last year through “Porãve Paraguay,” an outstanding project of Fundación en Alianza (Foundation in Covenant) of Paraguay, because “we believe that a quality education is possible by making it a priority to train the teacher.” The aims are to train the teachers in three main areas: Reading – writing, Personal Development and Management of School Violence, and to offer space for training school principals to accomplish better community development and to strengthen their leadership.

“Porãve Paraguay”

During the month of August, they worked with the theme: “Habits of a Brilliant Educator,” within the framework of “Porãve Paraguay” which Fundación en Alianza has worked with more than 115 teachers from ten public schools of greater Asunción since 2013.

The aim of this workshop was to develop specific abilities and capabilities of the teacher in regard to personal and inter-personal relationships. By reflecting on situations in daily life, they were oriented so that they could obtain tools that would help them to increase their efficiency in carrying out their tasks as educators.

Catholic Educators’ Workshop

8th Grade Teachers’ Meeting of Catholic Educational Institutions of the Diocese of Caacupé was held at the Santa Lucia ecological and tourist complex in the city of Itacurubi of the Cordillera on August29th.

Fundación en Alianza was in charge of developing the workshop: MANAGING TEACHER STRESS.

The goals were to reflect on the factors that affect the teacher’s life and to identify strategies that help the teacher obtain a better quality of life.

The facilitators were Fátima Buzó and Alejandro Cañete. Two hundred and thirty teachers and principals participated.

Workshop for schools that work in the Dequeni Foundation

On the 26th of August, a workshop called “Reading Games” was held; the objective was to promote reading in the classroom.

It was held in the event center at the Hotel Olivares in the city of Arroyos y Esteros and Dorita Alfonzo de Penoni was the instructor.

Forty teachers from six institutions that belong to the “Arroyos y Esteros Program of the Dequeni Foundation” participated. The objective was to analyze activities that are carried out in the classroom and to present strategies to promote reading.
