The change of the world begins “with me”

ARGENTINA, Claudia Lell. The idea emerged when some missionaries from the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign in Crespo (province of Entre Rios) saw a picture in the Catholic weekly Cristo Hoy (Christ Today)of Pope Francis with a paper fan made in the shape of “little feet”. Was it a proposal for Holy Week at San José School? With much enthusiasm the “Messengers of Mary” – missionary children of the Campaign – made silhouettes of tiny feet with the slogan: what is my proposal for this Holy Week?

The Messengers explained the task that they were carrying out to their classmates, and they distributed the tiny feet so that they could write their personal proposals on them.  The following day they were to deposit them in a small urn, later they would be glued to a newspaper and placed on a road with a white path in the center.

It begins with me

Symbolically, the colored, little feet represented the diversity of people and ideas and the walk toward Easter.  The newspaper upon which they glued them represents the world and its reality, the white road in the center represents the correct meaning that should be given to life.

We will work with the intentions that the children wrote to see what the needs and shortcomings are, and thus help to change the world “little step by little step”, because changing the world begins with you and me.  If we begin with ourselves to work to change the world, with only this gesture, an attitude…it will be possible and everything begins “with me”:  a great message from the children for everyone.
