The Leonor Tarifa del Perú Center celebrates Mother’s Day

Peru, Adriana Cáceres. Children with special needs in the Leonor Tarifa del Perú Center- an institution in Trujillo, north of Peru- celebrated Mothers day with much enthusiasm. A few days before, they prepared delicious butter and vanilla cookies in a workshop that everyone enjoyed. They loved the whole process: rolling out the dough with a rolling pin, cutting the cookies and baking them in the ovens.

But they were not the only ones who enjoyed it. The teachers, who guided these students, enjoyed it as well, seeing how much the kids were accomplishing.  Later on, they were taught how to make up little boxes that they filled up with the cookies. The boxes were decorated with a picture of each child making the cookies with the phrase “Especially for you, I love you Mommy”.  This was a beautiful

A flower for the Blessed Mother.

The day’s program was simple but full of meaning.  It started with a homage to Our Lady of Schoenstatt, and then, each student offered a flower to the Blessed Mother singing “El trece de Mayo” (thirteenth of May).

After the offering, the students had an opportunity to show their talents performing some songs and a dance. One could clearly perceive the happiness of the children and the pleasure of the parents and friends seeing them getting along so well.

Thankful parents…

Immediately after, the parents thanked the Center for the great job they do for the benefit of their children, and for the time they devote to the development of this Special Education, making it available for more people with special needs in the city of Trujillo, Peru.
