PARAGUAY, Sandra Lezcano. The JQM, Youth in motion, Paraguay has initiated several projects throughout this year, the more recent ones are directed to enable those young leaders who are real protagonists on the national scene, especially before the presidential elections that Paraguay experienced last April 21st. The two most outstanding projects for this fourth month: Clean Elections and the School for Young Leadership.
Clean elections 2013
Through training, they prepared all the young who volunteered to be poll watchers, to promote and control the transparency at all polling stations last Sunday, 21st of April when Paraguay elected their president.
With this project, the young sought to take care of each vote and avoid acts of corruption. At the same time, it motivated them to be principal figures in the country’s history.
School of Young Leadership
The Young Leadership School was planned for young teens between the ages of 15 to 18 years old, which after three meetings of one camping experience, one trip, and one forum, they sought to stimulate the critical spirit, the capacity to dialogue and encourage active participation of the young people in the process of development of their communities and of the country.
This is the fourth edition of this successful program that in the last years has trained 164 high school students of several departments counting on the participation of important national speakers.
The goal of this project is to form active citizens in the construction of democracy, knowing the vital contribution of the youths, thanks to the creation and execution of projects on community development.
Through educational participation based on integral vision, it is aimed to generate conditions to stimulate the critical spirit, the capacity to discuss and active participation of young people in the process of learning through new tools that technology offers.
