“In the name of goodness, we cannot be indifferent to anyone” – Christmas Solidarity 2012

BRAZIL, Priscila Bernardo. In the early hours of Christmas Day, the youth in Jaraguá – a suburb in São Paulo – took to the streets to hand out panettone, cold drink and cards to those who don’t have the opportunity to enjoy Christmas dinner – the street people in São Paulo’s city centre.

The panettones and cold drinks are donations from volunteers, companies, small businesses or people who are aware of this reality.  Each donation makes this project possible.

Christmas Solidarity started among the Schoenstatt Youth but is a social apostolic project that is open to all youth who want to share the real spirit of Christmas with these people.

Taking the Light of Christ wherever we go

The main objective is to make contact with the street people, letting them know that they haven’t been forgotten and that they can also have Christmas dinner!

The youth met in Jaraguá and then went to the areas around the cathedral, Anhangabaú, São João Avenue and Republica Avenue, where most of São Paulo’s street people live.  The youth prepared themselves for this mission the week before and so, were filled with the Holy Spirit during this time when we are called to be missionaries and take the Light of Christ wherever we go!

It is in this spirit that we invite everyone to find out more about the project on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/NatalSolidarioOficial (in Portuguese) or by email (natalsolidariooficial@gmail.com)
