A permanent volunteer of World Youth Day in Madrid reports

Benjamín Paz VermalSPAIGN, Benjamín Paz Vermal. My name is Benjamin Paz Vermal, and I’m from Tucumán, Argentina. I belong to the Schoenstatt Boys’ Youth, and right now, I’m a permanent volunteer for World Youth Day.

For those who do not know, World Youth Day is an international event initiated by Blessed John Paul II. Held every three years, it gathers thousands of youth from allover the world, and is a great celebration of faith enriched by the cultural and spiritual contributions of those who attend. This time it will be held in Madrid from August 16th to 21st.

May this be an experience that profoundly marks those who participate!

La JMJ en FacebookThe World Youth Days are organized with great anticipation, and God has given me the opportunity to be a part of this. Presently I am actively working with a large group of different nationalities of people united toward the same goal: to make this an experience that profoundly marks those who participate.

My role in the organization is that of Community Manager. I am part of a team that is charge of administering the social profiles of World Youth Day in all the social networks in which it is present, so that in this way, we can transmit this message in the language that we use. Currently thanks to the effort of many people, World Youth Day is on social networks in twenty-two languages.

Presence of the Holy Father

The Holy Father, Benedict XVI, will be present at many of the activities that will be developed in the World Youth Day program. One of these activities will be the Stations of the Cross that will include pictures of the stations from twelve different Spanish cities demonstrating the unique ways in which Holy Week is experienced in this country. The oldest images are unique pieces of art from the 16th Century. In addition, there will be a vigil at the Four Winds Aerodrome, and on the final day there will a large closing Mass.

Exclusively for the youth

On the other hand during the days before World Youth Day, there will be countless cultural and recreational activities that are not a part of the main events’ schedule: such as movies, art exhibits, concerts etc. World Youth Day is planned exclusively for the youth, so everything is intended for us. Along with all of this, there will also be an international retreat for the Schoenstatt Youth.

I believe it will be a unique experience that will be worthwhile in which to participate! More information is available on www.madrid11.com. If you have not registered, do not delay! You will be glad you did. These are once in a lifetime opportunities!
