Mother Church Praying in Solidarity in the Shrine of the Mother of the Church

ROME-Belmonte, Fr Stefano Mueller. Immediately after the news of the severe earthquake and the Tsunami warning in Chile reached us in the “Shrine of the Holy Father” at the International Schoenstatt Centre in Belmonte, the Mother Church began to pray in solidarity with the people in Chile in the shrine of the Mother of the Church, MATRI ECCLESIAE. The visible expression that reminds us of those affected in the land of the Third Milestone is the jar from Bellavista, which has found a home at Belmonte since the blessing on 8 September 2004.

We brought it into the shrine and placed beside it a newspaper report on the disaster, and a candle.

During our daily Holy Mass in “the shrine of all of us” and the Rosary in the afternoon, and we can sure also in the personal prayers of pilgrims during the day, our brothers and sisters in need were present with us.

The River of Grace flows back

What touched us was that we still found slips of paper from 2004 with contributions to the Capital of Grace from Chile in the jar.

Now we can help to fill the Capital of Grace from here, so that all who are in need in these days may receive the help they need from the ocean of grace. …

In this way the river of grace flows back … and all the slips of paper with contributions from Chile in 2004, and from Italy in 2014, will be burnt on 12 April during the vigil Mass for Palm Sunday and the anticipated Covenant Mass for April.
