CHILE, cmr. The editors of schoenstatt.org received the following information today from Fr Mariano Irurreta, Provincial Superior of the Schoenstatt Fathers Pentecostés Province, Chile. It has filled us with joy during our pilgrimage in the year of gifts and grace, and encouraged us to increase our contributions to the capital of grace of the Mother Thrice Admirable and Queen of Schoenstatt.
On 8 January in the Jubilee Year 2014 the Rector General of the Schoenstatt Secular Institute of Diocesan Priests, Msgr Peter Wolf, together with the General Council, erected the Region Nuevo Belén in the shrine “New Bethlehem for the Church” in Santiago, Chile. The new Region covers the Cono Sur countries: Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
During the same celebration, following the election by the community and the confirmation by the General Council, the Regional leaders were confirmed in office. They are:
Regional Rector: Fr Marcelo Cervi (Brazil)
Consultors: Fr José Parodi (Argentina), and Fr José Plaza (Chile).
As a sign of the special protection of the Holy Family in connection with the Bethlehem ideal, the Rector General gave the new Region a statue of the Holy Family from Burundi. The Region was also entrusted to the special intercession of the Archangel Michael and Blessed Karl Leisner.
Let us pray that the new Region will always be blessed and carry out its mission.
