Founding of the Schoenstatt Women’s Apostolic Federation in Chile

CHILE, Jessica Maldonado. The founding of the Schoenstatt Women’s Apostolic Federation in Chile became a reality with the consecration of the first course. Isn’t this news worthy of being known to Schoenstatt worldwide on the road toward Jubilee 2014? A letter to the Schoenstatt Family of Chile (published in the “Vinculo” Magazine) reads: “With great joy we share the happy news of our Consecration as a Founding Course of the Schoenstatt Women’s Apostolic Federation on August 15, 2013.”

After four years of preparation (called candidacy) accompanied by Sister M. Flavia Sommerhopp, a Sister of Mary, who was assigned to this task by her community, eight candidates of the founding course consecrated themselves in the Cenacle Shrine of Bellavista/Santiago, Chile, thus entering the Schoenstatt Women’s Apostolic Federation.

A gift for the 60th Anniversary of the Mission of the 31st of May

The International Presidency of the Apostolic Family Federation as well as representatives of the Women’s Apostolic Federation from Argentina and Ecuador were present on this day of graces. The course was formed in the year 2009, and it was a gift for the Founder and Father for the 60th Anniversary of the Mission of the 31st of May. On the threshold toward the Jubilee of the 100th Anniversary of the Covenant of Love, the promise has been fulfilled. The structure of the Schoenstatt Movement in Chile is complete with the founding of this Federation Community.

The Course wrote: “We are especially grateful to those who have accompanied us throughout this process with their prayers and capital of grace, especially the support of the Federation sisters from Argentina, the International Directors of the Federation, as well as the constant care and availability of the Community of the Sisters of Mary. Thanks to this founding, our nation renews its loyalty to the legacy that our Founder and Father left us in this holy land.”
