ITALY, Alberto Belloni. Another extraordinary day at the foot of the large statue ( 9 meters in height and sitting atop a tower) that surveys the City of Rome. At the Don Orione Centre groups of Scouts meet, all members of the Guides and Scouts of Europe Association.
A Golden occasion
The occasion was the first day of the new scout year, that coincides with the start of the “Year of Faith”, initiated by Benedict XVI. In the light of this the scouts have decided to entrust their “Group”, all the boys and girls, to the protection of Mary. The Scout Heads realized that the educational challenges facing them are far more daunting that their strength allows, hence their desire to forge an alliance with someone who can help and sustain their effort.
The Sending ceremony
During the course of the Holy Mass the heads of units received from the hand of Alberto and Antonella, head scouts but also founders of the first family group in Italy, the MTA images and during a short but meaningful ceremony these were handed over to the various heads.
A step forward
No fewer than 26 images of the Pilgrim Mother will begin to circulate in the homes and families of the boy and girl scouts.
