Beautiful news for the Schoenstatt Family in Peru

PERU, Queca Espinoza. During the 99th Ordinary Assembly of Bishops from Peru, the Metropolitan Archbishop from Ayachucho and Military Bishop, Salvador Piñeiro García-Calderón was elected as the new president of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference for the term of 2012-2015. He will replace Bishop Miguel Cabrejos. Bishop Pedro Barreto was also elected as vice-president and Bishop Javier del Río as second vice-president. It is very good news for the Schoenstatt Family in Peru, since Bishop Piñeiro has always extended his hand to and collaborated with the Movement. He has been in the Original Shrine, and he has prayed at the Father and Founder’s tomb.

He celebrated the Eucharist when the Shrine of Molina celebrated its 6th Anniversary, and Father José Antonio Arbulú and Father Paul Jaimes, who have sealed their covenant of love with the Blessed Mother, accompanied him. He also blessed a group of youth, who have joined the Pioneers.

On this occasion, the coordinators, Manuco Macedo and Piar Vidaurrázaga de Maced, presented him with a tapestry of the picture of the Blessed on behalf of the Movement; Father José Luis Correa, the national adviser brought it from Rome. When he saw it, his expression was very tender, since he was receiving the Mother of God with the title of Schoenstatt.

Commemorative plaque at the airport of Lima

Then he collaborated very much during Sister Petra’s visit to Peru: he attended the dinner to raise funds for the expenses, and he said grace at the table and for the people, who attended, he made contacts so that she could attend the tribute to Saint Rose of Lima at the Cathedral of Lima, and he arranged permission to enter the former Lima airport to place a plaque which reads:

“The Servant of God, Father Joseph Kentenich, Founder of the Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement passed through “Limatambo, at the former airport of Lima. He loved the Church. His devoted family from Lima, Peru, August 2011”.

Why shouldn’t we be happy about his election? Therefore we join the wishes of all the Peruvians who appreciate him, so that he will be very successful in his work, and the Blessed Mother’s blessings will always accompany him!

Bishop Javier Del Río of Arequipa, who is now the second vice-president of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference, has also been in the Shrine of Molina.

We must be attentive to signs and God the Father’s will. What does He want to say to the Schoenstatters from Peru with such good news?
