Third Sunday of Advent: presentation of the tunic of Zion in Nigeria

NIGERIA, Fr. Alfred Kistler/org. December 11th, the third Sunday of Advent and the first one after the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, was the day that was chosen to present the tunic of Zion to the Schoenstatt Fathers’ ten novices in Nigeria. This ceremony is a sign that these novices are joining the community.

The tunic of Zion, a white vestment, represents the celestial Zion (Apocalypse 7), Immaculate Mary as the new man completely redeemed, and the ideal and the mission of Mount Zion that the Founder entrusted to the Schoenstatt Fathers.

The ceremony was held in front of the Victory Shrine, while those who attended were at the sandy square under the awning erected earlier that protected them from the sun. Seven Schoenstatt Fathers participated; it was the first presentation of the Zion tunic to a course of novices led by the new teacher: Father Kingsley Okereke.
