An Historic Morning in La Moneda

CHILE, rcp. 160 men, who were previously accredited, gathered in what Father Lucho Ramírez has called an “Historic Journey” of the Current of Life of the Daybreakers. At dawn on December 3rd, the Feast of Saint Francis Xavier, they celebrated a Mass in prayer for Chile, in the Chapel of the La Moneda Palace, the headquarters of the Chilean Government.

Daybreakers (madrugadores) from Copiapó, Rancagua, Guacarhue, Quillota, Viña del Mar, Con Con, Los Pinos, Recreo, Villa Alemana, Quintero, Maipú, Colina, Las Condes, Ñuñoa, Providencia, La Florida arrived punctually before 7:30 AM to participate in this special liturgy.

Arise, daybreaker

Father Luis Ramírez presided at the Mass and the pastor of Guacarhue, Father Héctor Pulgar and Father Cristián Moya from Viña con-celebrated. The acolytes were the deacon of the chapel and our very own daybreaker, Deacon César Gómez.

We had to arise very early for this occasion, especially those from the outer regions, in order to arrive punctually at the set time, 7:15 AM. We had to be checked by the government house security personnel.

Twenty-four daybreakers from the Valparaíso (Paradise Valley) Region traveled by car and others traveled in a minibus. When we arrived the Chapel was already filled with daybreakers, we greeted one another and waited for the Eucharist to begin at 7:30 AM.

In an historic National place

We have had the experience of being in a historic National place, where the most important decisions are made and where the presence of God is not always present. This is the reason we wanted to pray in this place, so that those decisions and initiatives that are carried out will always be for the best interest of all Chileans.

The kneeler that Pope John Paul II used during his visit to the Government House in 1987 is in this chapel. There is a beautiful picture Christ above the altar and the national flag embroidered with his coat of arms is at the side.

We offered our prayers for Chile to Most Holy Mary, with the Virgin of Carmen title, so that She will continue to be our Mother and Queen, and so that She will take care of each one of her children who live in this beautiful land.

The call

The daybreakers are called to work like ants for the Kingdom of the Lord. We are also called to be Eagles, who fly high to contemplate the greatness of the Universe, and above all to be people, who give our best (each in his own way) to make a more human, just, and fraternal nation.

We are grateful to the people who organized this Historic Daybreaking: thank you for allowing us to share in this privilege; thank you for the breakfast we had in the Palace club room; and thank you for the challenge of continuing to flood these places, where great decisions are made for our nation, with our prayers.

Long live God!!!
Long live Most Holy Mary!!!
Long live Chile!!!
