Looking forward to the preparation by the International Boys’ Youth for the Centenary of the Covenant of Love, the role that the Schoenstatt Men’s Youth wants to play in this jubilee has been studied since 2008, which besides belonging to the entire Schoenstatt Movement, it also belongs to the Boys’ Youth. The objective of the meeting this year was to deepen the four pillars that were defined the previous year: Being Protagonists, International Unity, Covenant Culture, and Missionary Zeal.

In order to deepen these four pillars, the more than twenty youth and their advisers, who attended, published a base document (which is available on the JUMAS Brazil web page), to provide an understanding of what this Missionary Generation wants to forge for 2014. In order to accomplish this a long process of reflection and debates, it was necessary to gather the experiences of the countries and their different realities.

Besides the publication of the document, they began to think about World Youth Day, which will be held next year in Madrid, Spain, and how the Schoenstatt Men’s Youth can unite and take advantage of these moments of encounter at the Conference, besides defining the new General Secretariat. The new leader is Francisco Riera from Paraguay and the good news is that Filipe Raújo, a member of the Schoenstatt Boys’ Youth of  Araraquara, will continue in the General Secretariat of Crusade 2014.

As to the teams, each country should officially name a national representative and a public relations person, who will inform the secretariat and the site respectively. These positions have not been decided yet, but we expect a response from the advisers in a short time.

Crusade 2014

On October 18, 2014, the Schoenstatt Movement will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of its founding. Lately, the entire Family is talking about the preparation for the celebration of the centenary of the Covenant of Love. Conference 2014, which was held in 2009, helped us to define the common elements and the initial objectives for the coming years that the family wants to experience within this context.

In 2014, the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Schoenstatt Boys’ Youth will also be celebrated. The sodalists sealed their Covenant of Love along with the Founding Father and they gave their lives for it. The question arises: “How should the Schoenstatt Men’s Youth participate in 2014?” In response to this question the leaders and advisers of America gathered in Buenos Aires in November 2008. During this meeting, it was decided that more than just observing these events, the Schoenstatt Men’s Youth wants to be protagonists in 2014, like the first sodalists. Without the youth, there would be nothing to celebrate in 2014. Therefore, it was decided that  the Schoenstatt Men’s Youth should initiate a new road called Crusade 2014. There is a desire to form a large international network of Boys’ Youth to think about the centenary. It was also concluded that the great element that defines the Youth is being a missionary. For this reason, the main objective of Crusade 2014 is to form a new Missionary Generation.

We began Crusade 2014 on the 31st of May 2009. Many American countries joined the dream of forming a new Missionary Generation. At the end of that year, a new meeting was held, this time it was in São Paulo. The surprise was that Spain and Portugal joined the Conference and Crusade 2014. During the meeting, they continued to discuss the decisions made in Buenos Aires, as well as the life of the Schoenstatt Boys’ Youth Branches in the different countries. During this Conference, four elements to enrich Crusade 2014 were defined:

1. To be protagonists of 2014 and for the next 100 years of our Movement. This protagonist attitude will be at the service of the Family.
2. To truly attain an International Unity as Boys’ Youth. In order to accomplish this, we want to create an International Coordination Council.
3. To truly live a Covenant Culture as a response to our times. In this way we will join the stream of life that the Family defined at Conference 2014.
4. Fire  as a characteristic element of our Boys’ Youth. Through this sign, it is clear that the Missionary Generation is marked by fire.

Crusade 2014 is the road that we want to travel as Boys’ Youth. United in the Covenant and assuming the legacy, we want to be a new Missionary Generation for Schoenstatt and the Church.
