Annual retreat of the Schoenstatt Diocesan Priests in Santa Maria, BrazilSOUTHERN CONE, Father Mauricio Torres Marín. The Southern Cone’s Conference for the Secular Institute of Schoenstatt Diocesan Priests was carried out within the context of the Year for Priests, the centennial of the priestly ordination of our Father and Founder, Father Joseph Kentenich, and in the shadow of Tabor Shrine at Santa Maria, Brazil,

In the Shrine in Santa MariaA retreat for the new course, Sacerdos Filialiter, in Moriah Patris was held January 4th-10th; they are preparing to seal their Contractual Covenant. The members of this new course are Fathers Luis Gustavo Scombatti, Emerson Lopes, Luis Fernando Neris, Rodrigo Cabrera (Brazil), Esteban Casquero, Juan Javier Chiap, and Allan Sosa Tello (Argentina).

The Southern Cone’s Annual Conference of the Institute began with the arrival of other members of the Southern Cone from Chile, Peru, and Argentina on January 11th.

The entire conference and its work were centered on a reflection about the Year for Priests convoked by the Holy Father, and also the Centennial of the priestly ordination of Father Kentenich.

The General Rector of the Institute, Monsignor Peter Wolf, was also present. He actively participated in all the activities, and presided at the Contractual Covenant of the new course priests, Sacerdos Filialiter, on January 12th in the Tabor Shrine.

Encounter with the person and the work of John Louis Pozzobon

John Pozzobon's HouseThe conference was also marked by an encounter with the person and the work of John Louis Pozzobon with visits to his house, museum, and his tomb. They also visited Saint Peter’s Church, where he received most of his sacraments and where he grew in the faith and in the love of God and Mary. Thanks to the generous company and assessment of Father Argerimo of the Schoenstatt Fathers’ community, everyone gained a better understanding of the life and virtues of John Pozzobon.

Then on Friday, January 15th, Father Sergio Eichenberger from Argentina sealed his Third Contract with the Community accompanied by his course brothers, Ut Patres Missi.

In welcoming the priests who came from many countries, the Sisters of Mary with their special cordiality and company made everyone feel truly “at home”.

We trust that our beloved Little Mother will shower many blessings on our community and the entire Schoenstatt Family from her Tabor Shrine in Santa Maria.
