I am still on cloud nine…

PeregrinaUSA, Carlos Cantú. I just want to share this joyful experience. Last night, Elizabeth and I attended the installation of our new Bishop in the Diocese of Brownsville. He is the Most Rev. Daniel E. Flores. Only God knows the reason, but from the beginning when I received the invitation, I felt I had to take the Blessed Mother, so I took along a Pilgrim MTA.

Bishop Daniel E. FloresI held the image throughout the ceremony. Several around me asked me questions and I gave them small MTA picture/prayer cards. One woman in front of me was very excited because she gathers with other people to pray with a Pilgrim MTA. Her words were, “She is powerful!”

During the solemn entrance procession, I held up the image so that She could be seen… She was seen by Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops, Deacons and seminarians. Some smiled, others nodded, and one even extended a blessing. During the recessional procession, Fr. Carlos Zúñiga blew her a kiss, but the climax came when our new Bishop passed by…..he turned, smiled, extended his hand and touched the image of the Pilgrim MTA and said, “Schoenstatt!” I am still on cloud nine, so somebody better call a rescue team to pull me down!

As we approach 2014, we have to be conscious that it is most important that we celebrate Schoenstatt locally… in our parishes and centers, diocese, state, and maybe even nationally. Let us pray for this intention and we pray for many blessings on our new bishop in the Brownsville Diocese, Most Rev. Daniel E. Flores.
