An anecdote

Proud Scots: Fr. Duncan McVicar and Fr. Bryan CunninghamENGLAND, Fr. David Musgrave. At the very recent ad limina visit of the bishops of England and Wales, when the bishop of Salford, Terence Brain appeared before the Holy Father the following snippet of conversation took place.

When asked by the Holy Father about Family Pastoral Care in the Salford diocese, Bishop Terence relied that it was well cared for by the Schoenstatt Fathers.

His Holiness relied startled: Schoenstatt?

The Bishop reiterated: Yes, Schoenstatt Fathers.

His Holiness queried: German?

The response: No! Englishmen!

Some weeks later reporting back at a general clergy meeting of Salford Diocese at which Fathers Bryan Cunningham and Xavier Kulandai of India were present, Bishop Terence rather with “tongue in cheek” reported on this, and apologized to Father Bryan and Father Duncan, both proud Scots, for classifying them as Englishmen, the only real one being Father Andrew Pastore who at present is stationed in India.

A wonderful story as are so many we read in this family web site. Maybe it is time someone sends our Holy Father the link to Schoenstatt.de.
