Vacation Colony for Dequení children

PARAGUAY, dequeni. Just like every year, Dequení is carrying out Colonias de Vacaciones [Vacation Colonies] in the projects, so that children can occupy their free time during this season with dance, sports, and computer science. There is time for games and entertainment for the youngest ones with support from the kindergarten teachers.

The children usually attend a Dequení center, and in the reverse schedule, they go to school, but during vacation they remain at Dequení for the entire time. This is the case at the open centers of Casa de Acogida [Welcome House] (Fernando de la Mora) and Casa del Niño [Children’s’ Home] (Caacupé), which daily welcome the children who work on the public streets with their families or who are at risk of so doing.

In the case of the community centers at Caaguazú, Ciudad del Este, Arroyos y Esteros, J. Augusto Saldivar, Caacupé, the activities are carried out for half-days (from 8:00 to 11:00 and 1:00 to 4:00) from the January 21st to February 20th 2015.

The foundation implements the vacation camps annually during the school break to protect the children from child labor and to offer them an adequate place to promote creativity, social skills and personal growth.

More than 6,700 children go to school… thanks to benefactors of solidarity

The report cards of the 6,700 children accompanied by Dequeni show that most of that have outstanding class participation. They maintain good grades, and they have the support of parents thanks to the benefactors and businesses of solidarity that support the foundation.
