Missionary Motorcyclists visited an elderly center

PUERTO RICO, Edgardo L. Rivera. In what they identified as their first great mission and in imitation of their good friend John Louis Pozzobon, members of the Schoenstatt Missionary Motorcyclists Club (MMCS by its German acronym) visited Carmen Vargas Center for Elderly in the town of Hatillo, Puerto Rico, sharing peace and joy of the Holy Spirit (and also many candies). They were welcomed with great surprise and emotion by employees and elderly residents of this center.

Preparations

On Sunday, June 29th, the missionary motorcyclists gathered around the Magnificat Shrine of Hatillo.

There, they prayed in preparation for the mission that awaited them, and the leader of the group from Puerto Ricoexplained the reason of the mission: “To be a Schoenstatt missionary implies imitating John Pozzobon. He was a great missionary, who carried the Blessed Mother on his shoulder visiting families, schools, jails, and hospitals for 140,000km.” Then he shared his experiences with members of the group about his visit last May to the Original Shrine in Germany, with his wife and his children.

Visiting edlerly people

Upon departing from the Magnificat Shrine, they stopped for a succulent lunch of typical Puerto Rican food. While eating, Rodolfo recommended they buy candy to take to the elderly, “They would like us to bring something,” he said. Rodolfo, Edgar and other members of the group have much experience in doing acts of charity with other motorcycle clubs in Puerto Rico. From there, they continued their route to the Center of the Elderly. Upon their arrival, they were welcomed with great joy and surprise, especially by Luis, uncle of one of the motorcyclists, who lives there. They shared candy and conversed with the residents and the employees for two hours; they were told that they could come visit as many times as they wanted. Toño, one of the missionaries, even found a girlfriend. As they left the Center they prayed for the elderly and for all the missionary motorcyclists of the world.
