Go out of your comfort zone and assume risks – the CIEES continues in daily work…

SPAIN, mda. “In my sharing at the Congress, I talked about leaving my comfort zone and assuming risks. It´s hard to believe but now back in my routine, I am still repeating this every day, and more intensely each time.  This is what I have been doing in my daily work and also in my personal life.  Let´s see what fruits will sprout up from this”, commented Marcelo Scocco, one of the Spanish participants at the CIEES in Costa Rica, exactly a month later. This is a congress that did not end last November 10th, but continues in the daily lives of the participants and much more.

In an interview with schoenstatt.org, Marcelo Scocco, member of Male Professionals of Madrid, talked about his experiences in and after the CIEES.

What did you personally bring from the Congress?

An experience of International Schoenstatt, an experience of relationships formed by a special warmth, due surely to our having a Movement, a Shrine, the Mother Thrice Admirable, and God who unites us all.

What impressed you most?

The generosity and warmth of the Costa Rican hosts impressed me most.  They made me feel at home every moment, like I had known all of them for a long time now.  During the Congress, different persons’ sharing, which were so beautiful and full of meaning, touched me.

What did you share with your colleagues, friends and family upon your return?

I shared the wonderful experience consisting of two parts: first I came to know a beautiful country and the second, the Congress.  I told them how grateful I am to the Schoenstatt family in Costa Rica who really made us feel part of their family.

What challenged you most?

I would like to continue contacting the many persons we met.  How I wish we could do more things together.

Would you have a personal story to share about this experience?

I had planned some days before the Congress to go around Costa Rica, but I had so little time to prepare.  I made some phone calls, surfed on the Internet, and even contacted a Costa Rican travel agency.  In other words, I wanted to be near the Schoenstatt family of Costa Rica and be more united to them.  But in the end, I flew without organizing anything, just open to be surprised by the Blessed Mother.  And that was what happened.  I was with Nella and Manuel, enjoying the Central Pacific some days, and later Marcelo Alfonso put me up in his house, where we shared some beautiful days in a spectacular place and from there, the Congress…

Is there something that inspired you concretely?

Everything inspired me to give more meaning to my Covenant of Love in my daily work.
