NETWORK OF SHRINES, Inés Petiti, Maria Fischer •
Another October 18 is approaching. It is not simply another anniversary…it is not another “jubilee” or celebration of so many years of Schoenstatt’s founding. It is a day of renewal in the Covenant of Love, a day to once again ask the Mother Thrice Admirable of Schoenstatt to establish herself among us – in the shrines, wayside shrines, home shrines, work shrines – and to renew our willingness to be instruments to build a covenant culture where we live. —
In many shrines and wayside shrines, Schoenstatters gather these days to pray a novena in preparation for October 18th. There are as many forms, prayers, gestures and symbols as there are shrines. Schoenstatt life grows from below.
This year, we looked at the missionaries of the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign at their wayside shrine in Goya, in the province of Corrientes, Argentina. The coordinator left some flower arrangements before leaving on a trip, and the missionaries know how to make the novena.
It is so simple.
“Mother, take the prayer of your children of Goya, on the second day of your novena.
Like on that October 18, 1914, in the little chapel, establish yourself among us.
We need it and we need it very much!”
