“And I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls”

ARGENTINA, Mónica Jendrzejczyk. Bishop Eduardo García chose this scripture, “And I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls.” [2 Corinthians, 12:15] as a motto when he was installed as bishop for the Diocese of San Justo on Sunday, December 14th, the 3rd Sunday of Advent. For the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign of the diocese, this motto is a strong inspiration for its missionary work for 2015. “It is our desire at the beginning of 2015 that we can resemble this motto in the same way,” they said.

As they began 2015 with a commitment to their new bishop, this is how they began the last year with a visit to Bishop Baldomero Carlos Martini along with the National Advisor of the Campaign, Father Guillermo Carmona, who is now the Director of the Schoenstatt Movement in Argentina. Bishop Baldomero Carlos Martina showed his joy and gratitude, and he urged them to bring the Schoenstatt Movement to his diocese. In April shortly after this encounter with the bishop, during a pilgrimage to Santa María, the place where the campaign originated, a missionary discovered a picture of Mary close to the altar in the church, where Joao Pozzobon received all the sacraments; it is a very special picture of Mary since it is same as the one that is in the San Justo Cathedral. It was like hearing “we are doing well, let us go forward” from Joao’s lips. They continued to go forward with the celebrations of the 10th Anniversary of the Blessed Mother’s Wayside Shrine on May 18, by going on pilgrimage to the National Shrine in Florencio Varela with approximately 120 pilgrims. Among them, fifteen sealed the covenant of love including Father Raúl García, who celebrated the Holy Mass. Four new missionaries were also consecrated, and about forty renewed their missionary commitment. They also published a magazine, and they carried out many activities in the parish.

On August 10th, Bishop Baldomero Carlos Martini consecrated the Diocese of San Justo to the Holy Spirit. On that day, a picture of the Blessed Mother was present beside the altar, and at the offertory, they were able to give to the Bishop a very long desired gift, the Blessed Mother brought from Santa Maria, Brazil done in majolica [glazed ceramic tiles]. When he received it, he raised it on high showing it to entire diocese. It was another unforgettable and unexpected moment, and their eyes filled with tears because of so many emotions.

Just like throughout the world, they also celebrated the Jubilee of the Covenant of Love in the Diocese of San Justo.

On December 7th, they held an Illuminated Rosary on the eve of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in San Carlos Borromeo Parish [St. Charles Borromeo Parish], but this time, at every Hail Mary, they offered stars with phrases that represented their intentions, and on December 8th, they went in procession through all the streets of the neighborhood with all the Pilgrim MTAs.

They began the New Year in the joy of what they experienced…
