Uruguay expresses gratitude for the 100 years of the Covenant of Love

URUGUAY, Maria del Rosario de Armas. On the 21st of August at 7:30 p.m., the Uruguayan Schoenstatt Family gathered at the Cathedral of Montevideo in thanksgiving for the blessings of the Blessed Mother during the first century of the Covenant of Love.

Uruguay has the privilege of having been chosen by the Mother of God and Mother of all men/women to establish herself in the first daughter Schoenstatt Shrine – an exact replica of the Original Shrine – in Nueva Helvecia, a small city in the interior of the country. This year, this first daughter Shrine will celebrate its 71st Anniversary on the 18th of October.

Looking at the Movement in Uruguay presently, it is small as far as the number of members; but it is very big in its current expectations during this very important year for Schoenstatt.

For the desired Shrine of Montevideo

As a symbol of future growth sowed in the humble present, the ceremony began with the entrance of the Auxiliary Shrine carried by two, long standing and very committed missionaries. The Pilgrim MTA that has the special mission of working for the contributions to the capital of grace for the greatly desired Shrine in Montevideo followed. Accompanied by two grandchildren who are the future of the Campaign, one of the missionaries carrying it is developing a very important work of social ministry in the Saint Bois Hospital. These grandchildren represented children and youths from the work of human promotion that the Movement carries out in the Casbó Neighborhood. Some children from the Mater Ter Admirabilis School of Nueva Helvecia also participated in the Holy Mass; this school has the treasure of the first Daughter Shrine on its grounds.

With the children’s choir from Freiburg, and the “Voices of God”

Archbishop of Montevideo, Monsignor Daniel Sturla, celebrated the Holy Mass. Priests, who assist the Schoenstatt Family, accompanied him.

The children’s choir from Freiburg, Germany visiting in Montevdeo accompanied the liturgy along with the Movement choir, Voices of God, which greatly enhanced the ceremony emotionally shared by the entire Family.

Thank you Mother, for this time of encounter in solidarity with the entire Schoenstatt Family throughout the world!

Your covenant, our mission!
