BRAZIL, Fr. Argemiro Ferraciolil. On 12 December the servant of God, João Luiz Pozzobon would have turned 108. Two hundred people in São Pedro de Ribeirão celebrated his birthday with a procession from the parish church to the place where he was born.
This was followed by Holy Mass at his birth place, where more than 800 people gathered. The main intention was to pray for his beatification and cause for his canonization which has been in Rome since 2009. A fundraising lunch for 500 people was held after Mass to help cover the costs of the cause for his canonization.
The congregation prayed a novena asking for a miracle. All six of João Luiz Pozzobon’s children were in attendance, together with other family members, parishioners, religious and civil authorities. The afternoon ended by singing “Happy Birthday” and having piece of birthday cake!
