This is also covenant culture: the children from Karlsruhe for the children from Paraguay

GERMANY/PARAGUAY, org. Touched: a very mild expression to describe the reaction of Rosa Merlo Faella, who is charge of collecting funds for Dequeni . Shortly before Christmas she received 1,115 € from Germany (or: 20 scholarships, which means that 20 needy children can go to school for a year and will be off the street); she was also impressed by the article published on schoenstatt.org about the children’s choir from Karlsruhe undertaken endeavor with which they had contributed the major part of this donation (650 € at Christmas).

“¡¡¡What a beautiful testimony!!! I was very touched to receive it! Words cannot express what I feel: support, effort, satisfaction and above all from God, who shows that he is happy with our work. Because it is the children and people like Irene Eldracher, Ingrid Springer and the collaborators of schoenstatt.org, who help us to feel God and the Blessed Mother’s presence at our side. Sometimes the work here is very hard and many times I pray for help to a God who is quiet…but it is impossible to ignore God and the Blessed Mother’s presence in the love and solidarity of the German children.

Thank you to everyone who has accompanied our work! May God bless all of you for the beautiful deeds, especially to the German children; we will send them letters from their God-children. In short, THANK YOU!!!” Rosa María Merlo Faella.

At last it was accomplished…

During the first semester of 2011, the donations declined drastically in Germany, only 300 € was sent to Dequeni, stressing Ingrid Sringer, whose passion dedicates hours collecting funds for Dequeni and other Schoenstatt social actions in Latin America. Thanks to Irene Eldracher in Karlsruhe and through other personal donations, they reached the 1,115 € donation; and every Euro is a great help for a Paraguayan child, who thanks to Dequeni – one of the first and strongest initiatives for a new social order that has emerged in Paraguay as a fruit of the Covenant of Love – since 55 € covers everything necessary for a school year: a backpack, uniform, shoes, registration, and after school support with tutoring, which is especially important for the children, who for several years previously, had to work on the streets to earn money for their families…More than 90% of the children supported by Dequeni have been promoted to the next grade, many of them are the best in their class, and they all bloom because through their studies they also discover their childhood and their dignity.

Five more children

Shortly before Christmas this news arrived from Karlsruhe:

“I am happy to inform you that we have collected the money for five more scholarships. We have sold the DVD and CD’s of our Concert of Angels at a higher price. We increased the number of copies recorded, which reduced the cost. The difference will now go to Dequeni…”

Five children will receive scholarships, which will radically change their lives for the good. People like Rosa Merlo Faella will also receive it, whose Covenant of Love lived in solidarity, gives them the strength to continue going forward and walking one more mile for these children…
