CHILE, Margarita Popelka de Olea. At the beginning of Mary’s month (which is in November in this part of the world), a wish that began in 2008 for the Pilgrim Mother to visit faraway Easter Island materialized. The request for three images was made to Sister M. Consuelo, the Campaign Secretary, and they were delivered at a Mass on November 8th in the Bellavista Shrine. Father Andres Larrain blessed them. And so the trip began with the conviction: Mother will take charge of everything.
The flight lasted five hours, (passage provided by a son!). We arrived November 9th at midday in the distant territory, and at 6 p.m., we visited the parish priest, Father Bernardo Astudillo. I told him that someone had come to visit: I gave him the Pilgrim Mother along with the manual, and the pilgrimage bag, and asked him if this mission was convenient for him. Each day, I took part in the Holy Mass and in the Month of Mary benediction. On Saturday, November 12, in the afternoon, he answered: tomorrow in the Holy Mass at nine, we will present her and offer her to the community. How wonderful!
The Blessed Mother opens the way herself
Very satisfied and grateful, I noticed how, after the homily, Father Bernardo presented the Pilgrim Mother and explained that the pictures would go to visit families, the hospital, and the jail. He called two ladies, Sara Tucky and Zita Pakarati, to take charge of the Pilgrim Mother pictures by going and assembling the families who would receive the Blessed Mother’s visit. They were very satisfied and signed up to receive her and have her in their homes. The Mass was wonderful with a great deal of singing, the flood of colors, and it was filled with happiness and hope. The presence of many international tourists, plus all the local people, lent a very cozy frame to the arrival of the Mother and Queen. Outside after Mass, we listened to comments about what a beautiful thing it would be to receive the Pilgrim Mother in their home.
Among the tourists, many were greatly thrilled at meeting, in such a distant place, his/her dear Mother Three times Admirable of Schoenstatt, who shows the way that takes us to Jesus and God, the Father.
