Why not Give a Star as a Gift?

Eine Kerze, ein Stern, ein NameGERMANY, fma. “Baptize a real and unnamed star in the sky with the name of a loved one. What is extraordinary: you yourself name the star…..” This is the propaganda of a well known Internet company which offers an idea for giving a very unusual gift. “While you name a real star with the name of a dear one, with one gesture you achieve what many words cannot. Every evening, the stars make us joyful with their radiance. The stars are faithful and sure companions and much greater than what man can understand…..” The greatest man can understand: even greater than the clearest stars, even greater than what man can understand, is each man, each child. Those responsible for the future Joseph Kentenich School will not baptize any star. But they have written on a star the names of the children who will someday study and grow in this school…

LogoThe idea came forth a few days ago at a meeting for the public relations team of the Joseph Kentenich School in Kempten, Leubas. Along with the pedagogical, publicity, legality and economical steps which must precede the foundation of any school, they reflected: we already count on something unique, something very concrete, personal and necessary which we can now do before the beginning of the classes and while they await the desired permits and registrations of the students. If the school begins to function – as everyone wishes – in September of 2012, then the children who will go to the school are living….. And these children – the greatest and most precious of all we can imagine – have merited a star. They have merited our searching the sky for a star for them. They have merited that already today a star is shining for them…..They have merited our praying for them, so that their names are already written in Heaven, in the heart of God.

“A niece received the first star”

Rafaela gestaltet die Stern-KerzenAnd everything happened quickly. “Our daughters opened a candle workshop. Rafaela is home! They now have 40 candles of different colors and with the name of each child written on them in gold or silver. Sabrina received the first candle, her parents already speak of ‘our school.’ The other names will follow the binding registration,” relates Renate Immler from the Kentenich Pedagogical Association. This is, in the least, really as interesting as the baptism of a star when a name has been written on an until now unnamed candle.

Next week, the Immler family will participate in a conference in Schoenstatt. “Next week we will be in Schoenstatt and will surely participate with our course in a Holy Mass in the Original Shrine. We can have our candles blessed there or at the tomb of Father Kentenich. In any case, the candles should be there!

The great package of stars

In the company mentioned at the beginning, the “great package of stars” costs 650 Euros. What it costs the founders of the Joseph Kentenich School for each child to reach a star, is worth much more than what can be purchased with money.

But whoever wants to collaborate in some way with the “great package of Stars,” will be cordially welcomed.
