“Father’s Eagles” Course Golden Jubilee

CHILE, Carmen Rogers. On July 16th, the “Father’s Eagles” Course celebrated the 50th Anniversary of their priestly ordination: Cardinal Francisco Javier Errázuriz, Bishop Manuel Camio Vial, Father Patricio González, Father Ignacio Cruz, Father Pedro Gutiérrez, Father Jaime Fernández, and Father Rafael Fernández.

They participated accompanied by the Archbishop of Santiago, Ricardo Ezati, many priests and representatives from the entire Chilean Schoenstatt Family.

In his homily, Father Mariano Irureta, the Provincial Superior of the Schoenstatt Fathers, expressed his gratitude to “Father’s Eagles,” and he emphasized the mark they have left on us, in our lives and which profoundly touched the deepest of our personal, family, and community existence.

The First Legion

According to Father Mariano’s recollection, this story began fifty years ago in Friburg, Switzerland, where Bishop Manuel Larraín Errázuriz ordained the priests of the first generation in Chile on July 16, 1961 this is a fundamental part of the Schoenstatt history in Chile and in Latin America. Without them, the Movement in Chile and Latin America…and perhaps even beyond cannot be explained.

We renew our gratitude to the Most Holy Virgin for the fifty years of loyalty that these “Eagles,’ who gave their all to accomplish their mission, have given us.”
